Baxter Trail Club

safety and crime prevention

                  • The Baxter Trails are safer than most places, it is not immune from crime or insulated against the problems of larger society.
                  • Stay aware of your surroundings: where you are, what you are doing, and who’s around.
                  • If your safety is threatened, call 9-1-1. (Our responders are the York County Sheriff's Department.  If you can give them the number from a sign post or trailhead, they can find you.)
                  • Cellphone reception is good all over the Trail System.
                  • Carry a map, or scan the QR code on any signpost for a unique "You-Are-Here" map.

Although the Baxter Trail System (and our adjacent trails) are safer than most places, we is not immune from crime. We believe that all areas of the Trail are good cell phone reception.  The Trails have some remote areas, help may be far away.  Please maintain an awareness of where you are, in case you twist your ankle and have to call for help.

Safety awareness is one of your best lines of defense, and your mental preparedness and concentration on your surroundings provides your best tool in responding to situations.
