Our Catawba River shoreline has not yet recovered from Hurricane Helene. The area has trash of all sorts from plastic bags and tires to a pontoon boat, dock floats, and a boat dock. Let's clean it up!
What - Community Cleanup of the Catawba shoreline, AKA the River Loop
Who - Lake Ridge and Baxter Trail Clubs working together, the entire community is welcome. Children under 16 only if with an adult.
When - April 12, 8am-3PM rain or shine, no thunder
Where - meet at the Baxter Fire Pit near the river. Easy access from Harvest Pointe Trailhead
Weather - right now the forecast is low 70's and overcast, near perfect for work.
Recommended - dress for off trail work: hat, work gloves, leather footwear, long sleeve shirt and long pants.
Logistics -
We will provide bottled water and near noon, pizza.
Catawba Park is hosting tournaments Saturday so parking will be at a premium. We will have limited off street parking south of the park and on street parking along Harvest Pointe Drive.
We are expecting a full day of work but we understand you may have other things planned. Working even if only an hour or so will help.
Special requests - In order to improve moving the gathered trash to the dumpster we are seeking several ATV / UTV's with large trunks and/or trailers, driven by responsible persons. If you ever wanted to ride our trails with permission, this is it! If you are willing, let us know at baxtertrailclub@gmail.com. Thanks!
